Open Water Races and Events
Water World Swim is proud to offer some of the most prestigious open water swimming events and competitions in the San Francisco Bay area throughout the year. Each swim is prepared, organized and guided by a team of highly experienced coaches and swimmers with deep knowledge and expertise of the San Francisco Bay. Participants in our events come from all around the world.

Winter Alcatraz Crossing
Date: January 2, 2011
This is a non-competitive winter crossing from Alcatraz to Aquatic Park. Help us bring in the New Year with this challenging swim in the cold waters of the San Francisco Bay.

Swim Around the Rock
Date: July 9, 2011
Join us for this round trip Alcatraz swim at the Aquatic Park. This swim is a challenge for fast swimmers that requires a strategic race plan to swim the 3.25 mile course with tides and fast currents around Alcatraz.

Bridge to Bridge
Date: August 27, 2011
This is a 10k swim competition limited to 30 elite swimmers. Competitors will begin the race at the Golden Gate Bridge (close to the south tower) and finish at the San Francisco Bay Bridge during a 4.01 knots Flood. (tide West to East). Only swimmers with extensive open water experience should register.

Touch Alcatraz 'n Go
Date: August 1, 2010
This round trip Alcatraz swim will begin on the beach of Aquatic Park in San Francisco. The competitors will swim to Alcatraz Island, touch the turn-around point, and continue back to Aquatic Park. There will be a boat with a race official on it that will mark the spot near the island.

Alcatraz of the Champions

NEW EVENT!This is a 5k swim competition limited to 25 elite swimmers. Competitors will begin the race at the Alcatraz Island and finish at the beach at Crissy Field. Only swimmers with extensive open water experience should register.

Swim of the Centurions

From Alcatraz to the Aquatic Park in the San Francisco Bay, this 1.25 mile swim has become a world-renown event.

Golden Gate Bridge
Date: October 16, 2010
This 3K (approx. 1.85 miles) race begins at the ocean side of the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge near Ft. Point Beach and goes under the Golden Gate Bridge past the north tower and finishes at Finger Point Rock. This is a rare opportunity to swim one of the most thrilling open water, world class competitions ever.
