We hope you and those you hold close are staying safe and healthy. We miss you and look forward to seeing you back in the San Francisco Bay as soon as some of the health ordinances are lifted.I wanted to give you an overview of the preparation and planning we are doing to return to swimming in the Bay.
First of all, let me tell you that our whole coaching team at WWS is working hard behind the scenes to ensure a safe come back and to start the swim season as soon as possible. We continue, day to day, to evaluate information from the CDC, state and county health officials, and national experts to help us be as thoughtful as possible about developing the appropriate policies and protocols. We are also running test swims in preparation for when we are given the ok to operate in the Bay of San Francisco.
There are many things we still do not know, including the exact date of when we will be able to re-start the season. But there is one thing we do know: We remain, above all, committed to the health and safety of all our swimmers, coaches, swim program participants, and visitors from around the world.
New Precautions
Our re-opening will be in stages, with a few additional precautions, including,
- Appropriate physical distancing at all times, both in and out of the water. This requires awareness and patience from all our swimmers. (This is also a good time to practice open water sighting techniques!)
- Online pre-registration for all swims. Drop-ins will not be allowed. Each swim session will have a limited number of swimmers.
- Masks must be worn at all times outside of the water and immediately after your swim. This will be enforced for the safety and respect of all participants in our open water swim program, and as a necessity for WWS to operate as a small business during these times.
We will have hand disinfectant available at each practice and a few extra masks, just in case.
Our mission is to give you the opportunity to enjoy swimming with others while breathing in the fresh air, and support you as you train for your future swims and competitions.
As we learn more about our plans and when we have more details to share, we will keep you updated.
Best regards and wishes,
Coach Pedro and the WWS team
