If Kyle felt any pressure leading up to the swim, he didn't show it. Like a typical kid, he horsed around with the lawn furniture and played catch with his brother.
"I think I can do it because I've been training to do it," he said. Kyle trained with his dad by swimming off China Camp and in the water at the San Francisco club just north of Pier 39.
Mill Valley resident Pedro Ordenes, who at 59 has the record with 399 crossings, said he was impressed when he trained with Kyle last week. Along with Tom, they swam for 42 minutes. "He did wonderful," Ordenes said. "He came to the beach feeling great."
