Expired 2021 EFA Aquathlon (kayak/SUP)
- August 14, 2021
6:00 am - 10:00 am
This event is part of the overall Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon weekend. It takes place the day before, on Saturday morning. Competitors will take a short swim from roughly Coughlan Beach (near the SF Yacht Club Marina entrance) to St. Francis Beach, for a total distance of 750 meters. It is just like the final leg of the Escape. We will set up a cordon of paddlers and ensure that swimmers don't wander out into the bay or get too close the breakwater wall. This is a great chance to practice up for the Escape the next day!
At this time, assume that we will park and launch from Aquatic Park, until I have more details on possible parking closer to the event. The EFA usually takes over the entire Crissy Field area for the weekend, so we may not have parking access to Crissy Field or the Yacht Club parking lot.
Paddlers will be paid $100 for this event, and you must bring your own kayak. Loaner kayaks are ONLY available for the main Escape From Alcatraz swim the following day on Sunday, 8/15.
Meet up on the beach at the east end of Aquatic Park. We will paddle out to the swim start near Coughlan Beach. Finish line will be at St. Francis beach.
Please review your responsibilities as a kayaker before signing up. Updated details on meeting times and locations will be emailed to you. Please be aware your start time may be earlier than listed.
