"Please note that we send out information for each swim (prior to the event) using MAILCHIMP. If you have not received a notice from us before your swim, please be sure to check your spam mail as it might be stuck there!"

THIS DATE IS SUBJECT TO COAST GUARD CONFIRMATION

This means this is the date we are planning on, but the Coast Guard still needs to confirm it before it's set in stone. The Coast Guard is a busy place, and it can sometimes be months before they give us approval. So how often do they not approve it? Very rarely, but if you need to book travel or otherwise need absolute certainty, you might want to wait. Just know the the swim might fill up and we don't hold spots!

JULY 13, 2019
47 swimmers will start the swim at Alcatraz and finish at Angel Island
This swim is not timed and not competitive. You are welcome to time yourself. A great first time Alcatraz swim!
Curious about this swim? Read more about it here!
isl-mid Registered swimmers will receive an email 1 week prior to race day confirming conditions, temperatures, times, locations, parking options, etc. Passenger space, if available, will be made available for registration and announced in that email as well. When the information email has gone out, a link will be posted here.

Most swimmers plan on making their own "escape" to the shores of San Francisco - but famed real escapees such as the Anglin brothers and Frank Morris probably headed to Angel Island instead to avoid capture, making this route the theoretically more authentic escape!

These crossings from Alcatraz are recommended for those swimmers who have either taken a Water World Swim Alcatraz clinic or who feel confident and have had prior experience swimming in cool open water.

Our crossings are limited to small number of swimmers and are accompanied by three or more of our coaches. Our crossings are supported by experienced safety kayakers. Swimmers will be divided in two or three groups of slow, medium and competitive levels in which are accompanied by our coaches. After a brief but thorough discussion of the conditions of the bay during your crossing, you will jump from our boat, and swim towards your destination across the bay.

Your registration is non-refundable. Please review our refund and rollover policies before registering.
