This means this is the date we are planning on, but the Coast Guard still needs to confirm it before it's set in stone. The Coast Guard is a busy place, and it can sometimes be months before they give us approval. So how often do they not approve it? Very rarely, but if you need to book travel or otherwise need absolute certainty, you might want to wait. Just know that the swim might fill up and we don't hold spots!

This is a very challenging and highly unique swim from Alcatraz to St Francis beach limited to 47 swimmers looking for a winter challenge! Competitors will begin the race right by Alcatraz Island and finish on the shore of St Francis Beach . Water temperatures can be as low as 48°F but usually vary between 49-56°F, so check out our tips on getting acclimatized to cold water and preferably attend some winter clinics and swims. This is not the time to try out cold water swimming for the first time!
Only swimmers with extensive open water experience or presently training should register. Feel free to contact us with your swimming resume so we can assess if this is a good challenge for you. Swimmers can opt to wear wetsuits, or swim skin - we have a special award for the first skin swimmer in!

Covid-19 Protocols
Basic Safety Precautions and Limits
- Online pre-registration for all swims. Drop-ins will not be allowed .
- Appropriate physical distancing at all times, both in and out of the water and while on the boat. This requires awareness and patience from all our swimmers.
- Masks must be worn at all times on the boat, outside of the water and after your swim. Please respect all participants in our open water swim program and serve as a role model so WWS can continue to organize swims and operate as a small business during these times.
Event Schedule

Passenger space, please email a request to info@waterworldswim.com and we will put you on a list. If spots are available payment will be made the morning of the event with credit card. Cost is $55 per passenger. We cannot guarantee passenger space and any made available is first come, first served.

- 8:00 am Meet at Fisherman's Wharf, at the Chucky's Pride boat near the corner of Jefferson and Jones.
- 8:30 am Board the boat!
- 9:00 am Jump! This swim finishes at St. Francis. You will board the boat again to head back to Fisherman's Wharf.
