Coach Gary represents Water World Swim in Europe and is currently based in France, though he regularly makes trips to San Francisco to swim in the bay. He has coached with WWS for ten years, and recently completed some life goal long distance swims. He highly recommends The Lake Zurich Marathon Swim in Switzerland and successfully crossed the English Channel in September 2013 in 13 hours.
Although it seems extreme, he says it is uplifting and enjoyable for a novice swimmer who became more and more interested in open water swimming once the avenues of running and rugby became more painful. ("Or was that due to age?" he says!)
All that said, his greatest pleasure is in guiding and helping first time open water swimmers experience the delights of the sport.
