North Jersey | Cedar Grove Elks member to escape from Alcatraz for St. Baldrick’s

Chellis, now 56, decided to complete the daunting task he joked about with his late brother, who passed away only a few years after moving to the city.

"The physical challenges of this swim are nothing like the challenges the children and their families face," Chellis said.

The Elks member is swimming from Alcatraz with a group called Water World Swim, an organization based in San Francisco that specializes in navigating through the "hulking relic of an awful prison" to the shoreline of Crissy Field, Chellis said.
