The Examiner | Cold-water swimmer warms up Cuba

    This is the first U.S. swim group ever invited to Cuba. The group led by Water World Swim coach Pedro Ordenes will participate in a 5K swim off the coast of Havana. Ordenes is the perfect man for the job. He has coached for over 20 years and swam across the Strait of Magellan. He is also the only person to complete a round trip swim of the Beagle Channel between Chile and Argentina, in water temperatures averaging 39F and without a wet suit. San Francisco based, Ordenes is an Alcatraz crossing legend, having swum it hundreds of times and guiding others from all over the world to make the crossing.
