Water World Swim Set For First TriGalapagos Challenge
The 2015 Galapagos Triathlon was officially presented today on the Santa Cruz Island, which will host three competitions from Friday through Sunday (9 to 11 October): 70.3 Distance Triathlon, Marathon and 2K Swim, respectively.
For the first time in history, the TriGalapagos forms part of the ITU circuit and San Francisco Bay Area’s company Water World Swim will assist to take the swim competition to the next level.
Pedro Ordenes, founder of Water World Swim, said during the press conference that he is honored to collaborate with TriGalapagos for the first time ever. "The beautiful landscape on the Galapagos Islands makes this competition very special and we will help to bring more athletes from the United States, South America and Europe to participate at the TriGalapagos in the upcoming years,” said Ordenes.
Kathy Winkler, with seven Ironman completions, Kona podium finisher and four Ultraman podiums, will compete in all three events this upcoming weekend. “I am very excited about this huge challenge and hope that this will pave the way for more international athletes to compete on this beautiful island in the future,” said Winkler, who forms part of the renowned Water World Swim coaching staff.
“We are very excited to keep growing with the help of Pedro and Water World Swim,” said TriGalapagos director Ricardo Arenas. “Pedro helps us to bring in top athletes from all over the world and also with the technical part of the swim discipline.”
Water World Swim will also organize three swim clinics prior to the action packed weekend and is the main organizer of the closing event on Sunday, a 2K swim in the open waters of the Galapagos Islands.
