Dear Friends,
We hope you and your family are safe and healthy. Today June 15th , 2021 is a day that we all will remember forever and celebrate. The City of San Francisco and State of California have lifted all Covid restrictions, so we can continue our swim program free of restrictions. However, we still plan to follow health guidelines and recommendations until we are 100% free of Covid.
We thank you for your support and collaboration during the pandemic!
Thank you for continuing to swim with us while safeguarding your health and making sacrifices in your daily lives to keep your loved ones and those around you healthy. These last times were emotionally challenging for all of us, including all our swimmers and coaches. As of today, June 15th , the State of California has lifted the most strict ordinances. I wanted to give you an update and overview of the plans we have for the rest of 2021 season.
During the last many months, our entire coaching team at WWS worked hard behind the scenes to ensure a safe swim season. We are thankful that as an athlete, you adapted to CDC, state and county health policies and protocols in order to help us continue with our swim program. The City of San Francisco is one of the best cities in the world in terms of vaccination rates. We are happy to return and offer you a more normal swim season going forward, and will continue to stay updated on
news about the vaccine and get the necessary permits from the Coast Guard for our swims for the rest of the year.
For our dedicated and healthy swimmers who have been training with us, we are planning to add swims that will continue to advance your swimming and prepare you for future swims, especially now when we expect a green light to operate normally in the Bay of San Francisco and other parts of the world.
In the meantime, we will continue following precautionary measures recommended by local authorities for all our swim sessions.
- Appropriate physical distancing will not be mandatory but at your own discretion if you are vaccinated. This requires awareness as some swimmers might not have been vaccinated.
- Online pre-registration for all swims. The number of swimmers will be at our discretion. Drop-ins are allowed for weekly swim sessions. The full session fee must be paid by credit card.
- Masks may be worn at your own discretion out of the water or after your swim. Please be respectful of other participants in our open water swim program. WWS will continue to have masks available at your request.
- Hand disinfectant will still be available at each swim session.
Our mission will always be to offer all our swimmers a safe environment to enjoy swimming with a fun and welcoming community, stay active outdoors in the fresh air, and support you as you train for your future swims and competitions. We remain, above all, committed to the health and safety of all our swimmers, coaches, swim program participants, and visitors from around the world. This is a moment to celebrate. Thanks to all of you and to all our staff that made it possible for us to keep enjoying the bay of San Francisco!
Best regards and wishes,
Coach Pedro and the WWS team
