This is a very challenging and highly unique swim from Alcatraz to Aquatic Park limited to 35 swimmers looking for a winter challenge! Competitors will begin the race right by Alcatraz Island and finish on the shore of Aquatic Park in time to warm up at the bleachers. Learn about this swim.

This Alcatraz crossing is great for swimmers that have crossed many times from Alcatraz to San Francisco, or for the experienced open water swimmer wanting to race Alcatraz in style for the first time! The St. Francis route, despite being 1.8-2.1mi, is faster than Aquatic Park due to sweeping currents in your favor, giving all swimmers a speedy boost. Learn about this swim.

Bridge to Bridge 10K

This 10K (approx. 6.2 mi) race begins at the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge and finishes at the Bay Bridge. This legendary swim is recommended for elite swimmers wanting to race between two landmark bridges in the exciting bay waters! Learn about this swim.

Swim Around the Rock

SEPTEMBER 13, 2020

Join us for this round trip Alcatraz swim! This swim is a great challenge for fast swimmers that requires a strategic race plan to swim the 3.6 mile course with tides and fast currents around Alcatraz. Learn about this swim.

On June 11, 1962, Frank Morris and John and Clarence Anglin chipped through their cement cell walls, squeezed through a ventilation shaft to get to the roof, climbed down a drain pipe, scaled a 15-foot fence, and entered the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay. They disappeared into the night, wearing only the meager life preservers they made from stolen rain coats, and were never found, seen, or heard from again. Learn about this swim.

Golden Gate to St. Francis


Up to 50 swimmers will start the race at the Golden Gate Bridge South Tower and finish at St. Francis. A new and unique race into the bay by the Presidio. Learn about this swim.

Golden Gate Bridge

SEPTEMBER 22, 2019

This 3K (approx. 1.15 mi) race begins at the ocean side of the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge near Ft. Point Beach and goes under the Golden Gate Bridge past the north tower and finishes at Finger Point Rock. This is a rare opportunity to swim one of the most thrilling open water, world class competitions ever near a legendary historical landmark with unique currents from the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay, and over the bay's deepest point at over 340 feet! Our Alcatraz swims are incredibly popular and are a great way to make this epic crossing with a small friendly group and without the pressure of competition. Enjoy all this swim has to offer without sweating the clock, make new friends, and enjoy a casual morning out in the bay!

These crossings are recommended for swimmers who have either taken the Water World Swim Alcatraz Swim Clinic or who feel confident and have had prior experience swimming in the open water.
